With a career spanning almost every facet of farming from sheep and beef to dairying and contracting, James Brown has a solid understanding of what Otago farmers need to succeed.
Before joining Gallagher James worked in sales at Farmlands in Taieri for five years. Before that he was on his family’s sheep and beef farm in Southland. He has also dabbled in milking, shearing and contracting over his career.
“Whatever the job or the season I have pretty solid experience across all areas of farming, which I think is valuable to my Gallagher farmer customers,” says James.
James enjoys being on the road and visiting stores across the vast Otago region and meeting farmers as he cements the Gallagher brand that has been around for 85 years.
“Gallagher is a New Zealand made product that started from small beginnings. But it’s a brand that has always been there and one farmers know they can turn to and trust because it will still be around for another 85 years!” says James.
When he’s not at work you can find him with his partner Lana and their four daughters Mikaela (12), Piper (10), Millie (6) and Ella (4). The family loves heading outdoors, and James’ other passion is his herd of Highland Cattle.
James farms his herd of pedigree Highland Cattle on two 100-hectare lease blocks just outside of Dunedin. He is also President of the New Zealand Highland Cattle Society.
