Georgia Burgess grew up on a small farm near Oxford in Canterbury. Her love of rural life led her to Lincoln University where she earned a Bachelor of Agricultural Science.
During her studies, Georgia worked on sheep and beef properties in Central Otago. It was this experience, along with her time at Ballance Agri-Nutrients, that shaped her career.
Georgia brings to the role a whole farm system understanding and she is passionate about understanding farmers' goals – from business to production.
“If a farmer says they want to improve weaning weights, then I know we need to tackle it from both a pasture and animal management perspective. I can definitely help around the management of that feed and monitoring animal growth by weighing stock regularly.”
Georgia is proud to be Gallagher’s only female Territory Manager and is already making the role her own. She came to the company looking for a new challenge.
“I wanted to learn something new, and I was intrigued by Gallagher’s innovation with product and technology. I was also impressed with the creative license they give their people. It’s a pretty cool when a company lets you explore ideas, to find new ways to do things better.”
Georgia and her husband Ben are based in Dannevirke where they own a 10-hectare block and run Hereford stud cattle. When she’s not working, Georgia indulges in her passion for horses, gardening and all things outdoors.
