Sam grew up in Pongaroa on her parent's sheep and beef farm, where her love for animals and farming was first ignited.
Her career began straight out of university as a farm merchandiser for Elders Masterton, a role she worked for 1.5 years. Sam then spent 8 years as a Technical Field Officer for Farmlands, specialising in agronomy and animal health. Most recently, she worked as an Agribusiness Manager for Rabobank in the Wairarapa for 2.5 years.

On weekends, Sam enjoys spending time with her 4-year-old son, Jonty, riding her horse or working on her lifestyle block. She’s also enjoys playing netball and squash in her spare time.
