Mark Maitland

An appreciation of what technology can deliver for farmers today and helping them find the right solution for their operation is what drives Mark Maitland.

Mark was Gallagher’s Territory Manager for Canterbury, before being promoted to Business Development Manager in 2023.  He comes to Gallagher from a background in dairy automation and hygiene and an understanding of the value Gallagher’s proven smart solutions can deliver on-farm.
Mark says he enjoys the challenges offered by New Zealand’s varied farming landscapes from intense cropping to dairying, and matching his clients’ needs with a suitable Gallagher solution.

Mark started with Gallagher in 2016, during one of the biggest downturns in the dairy sector. He says he saw first-hand the benefits of being able to offer farmers solutions to better manage pasture and crops, enabling costs to be maintained or even reduced using Gallagher’s world leading technology.

His favourite piece of Gallagher technology is the TW weigh scales. Its easy-to-use interface is proving popular with farmers already accustomed to a smartphone screen.

“More farmers are recognising the value of knowing per head production, particularly when beef, sheep meat and dairy values are all so strong. Measuring productivity and returns is made exceptionally easy with this sort of technology.”

When he is not working, Mark is dad to son Albie and daughter Fleur and husband to Juliette. He recently hung up his rugby boots in favour of multisport, competing in the 2021 Coast to Coast alongside his dad.
