Mike Ward-General Purpose

After more than 20 years in the Hawkes Bay, one of Gallagher’s most experienced territory managers is making the move to the Far North.

Mike Ward will officially take up the Territory Manager role in the Northland region for Gallagher in August, covering the region from north of Auckland’s Harbour Bridge to Kaitaia.

Mike has been part of the Gallagher team since 2001 and has built a reputation for his in-depth knowledge and great communication skills. And his electric fencing expertise is second to none.

During his time looking after the Manawatu, Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay regions, he helped bring large scale electric fencing to hill country farmers. Many of these farmers are now using Gallagher electric fencing with confidence and enjoying the peace of mind that comes with having good voltage up to 10 kms out

“Electric fencing technology has come a long way,” says Mike. “By using monitoring devices such as our Ag devices App we’ve been able to help farmers use Gallagher electric fencing on a large scale with confidence,” Mike says.

One of Mike’s career highlights was overseeing the installation of an electric fence system around the chimpanzee enclosure at Wellington Zoo.

Mike says he is looking forward to getting to know farmers in Northland’s predominantly dairying region and helping them solve problems on their farms that save them time and ultimately maximise their profits.

“I think that’s what I like most about the job. The problem-solving aspect and helping farmers use Gallagher products to improve their farming operations.”

A keen jet ski fisherman, diver and hunter, Mike says he is also looking forward to making the most of all the Northland region has to offer and indulging his passion for the great outdoors.
