After growing up on a King Island superfine wool property, Justin did a fitting and machining apprenticeship then worked on farms across south-east Australia — including some large Western Victorian wool properties running 42,000-50,000 sheep.
Itchy feet saw him travel overseas for several years. First stop was North America, harvesting wheat from Texas into Canada in summer, then hauling cattle to the warmer southern states in the winter. In South America, he spent a year backpacking and working on some big sheep properties.
After 10 months in the UK on a mixed farm, Justin came back and spent two years in Northern Territory underground goldmines and a further two years driving long-haul trucks moving mining machinery.
In 2010, he moved back to Tassie and ran his own fencing-contracting business until 2015. He came on-board with Gallagher as the Territory Manager for Tasmania in 2015.
Around the same time Justin started with Gallagher he purchased a beef property in the central north of Tasmanian where he runs a 90+ cow self-replacing Angus breeding herd. In Justin's day to day farm operations he uses the Gallagher I Series Energiser with fence comms and a mobile app, a wireless water monitoring and Gallagher Animal Performance Software to track production.
Justin is a part of our senior Territory Manager team and takes a roll in supporting other Territory Managers across the South East of the country.
