Chapter Review - A Smarter Way to Power, Monitor and Manage Your Fence

  • Gallagher i Series energiser are more than a power unit; they’re a fence management platform that give you deeper insight on the performance of your electric fence.
  • The I Series can deliver stronger, more reliable fence performance over long distances when combined with Super Earth Kits.
  • Get 24/7 visibility and reporting on your phone when connected through WiFi/App Gateway or Satellite Gateway.
  • Enjoy faster fault response, less manual checking, and better protection for livestock and assets when you combine all these fencing components together.

The Gallagher i Series, more than an energizer

The Gallagher i Series is designed for high-performance electric fencing systems where reliable power, monitoring, and control are critical. You can view energiser output voltage, and even adjust the alert status from your phone with Gallagher Devices app.

Gallagher I Series controllers and gateways give you real-time visibility of energiser and fence performance. I Series Fence Monitors also help locate voltage drops, shorts, and faults across larger networks.

Remote monitoring and control mean less time spent physically checking fence lines because you can see your energiser and fence status from anywhere.

The i Series also has multi-powered options. Energizers allow for mains, solar, (off-grid installations) so you can always have power no matter the conditions.

And remember to add a Lightning Diverter to protect your investment.

Use Super Earth Kits to get more out of your fence

Earthing is more important in electric fencing than people realise.

Effective earthing is essential for electric fence performance because the earth system completes the circuit when an animal touches the fence. Through parallel wiring of earth wires within the fence, this creates an effective earthing system within the fence especially important when ground conditions are very dry under the animal's feet.

Better earthing helps maintain stronger fence voltage and more consistent animal control across long or heavily loaded fence lines. The return circuit through the ground can get weaker over long distances and through dry or sandy soil.

A Super Earth Kit improves the energiser’s ability to return energy through the ground, especially in dry, rocky, sandy, or high-resistance soils.

The consistent earthing offered by Super Earth Kits let you run high powered fencing further, and across challenging soil that’s dry or loose.

Improved earth performance can reduce false fault symptoms caused by poor grounding rather than actual fence shorts.

A well-designed earth system is an integral part of an electric fence and necessary to use the full capability of i Series energisers.

The use of Super Earth Kits for the i Series energizers tabled above.

  • As a minimum requirement, in ideal soil conditions divide the stored joules by 15.
  • To optimise the efficiency of your energizer in very arid dry soil conditions allocate a Super Earth Kit for every 10
    joules of specified stored joules.
  • Use one continuous High Conductive Lead Out Cable to connect each Super Earth Kit 10m apart, using the
    inbuilt supplied Joint Clamps.
  • Add one galvanised steel post for the Earth Reference, 10m away from the energizer in the opposite direction to
    the installed super earth kits.
  • When upgrading your old energizer, be sure to update and or renew your earthing system to the recommendations
    above.

Protect the Three-Year Guarantee on your energizer by installing a Lightening Diverter with each energizer.

Monitor your fence 24/7 from your phone

The Gallagher Devices mobile app lets you view the performance of your energizer, receive fence fault notifications, and manage your system from your phone.

The i Series App Gateway connects compatible i Series energisers to the mobile app using Bluetooth for nearby updates and WiFi or hotspot connectivity for remote access.

The App Gateway is powered by the energiser connection, so there are no separate batteries to change or recharge.

The App Gateway lets you monitor fence status 24/7, receive real-time fault notifications, adjust output voltage, and turn the energiser on or off all from your phone.

App connections are handled over Bluetooth for nearby updates and WiFi or hotspot connectivity for remote access.

For properties without reliable WiFi or cellular coverage at the energiser, the i Series Satellite Gateway provides remote connectivity through satellite communication.

Satellite connectivity is suited to remote blocks, outstations, conservation fencing, exclusion fencing, and other installations where conventional connectivity is limited.

Remote alerts help you act earlier on power cuts, voltage drops, and fence faults, reducing the risk of stock escapes, predator entry, or fence downtime.

Gallagher I Series, the system that lets you fence further and respond faster.

A high-performance fence is all about power, but the i Series offers so much more intelligence providing an entire system for remote monitoring.

Effective earthing allows a fence to run further and deliver more power.

Monitors make it possible to track fences remotely for faults and spikes. Gateways make remote control possible, turning a fence on and off from anywhere.

Even though the principles of an effective fence are the same, every farm and the needs of all farmers are different.
