In the Community
Being part of Gallagher means being part of an enduring partnership with the community we work and play in around the globe. We're proud of our partnerships with a variety of sporting, arts and community events.
Whilst we support many initiatives all over the world, a large percentage of our sponsorship dollar goes to the local communities in which the lion’s share of our workforce is based.
At Gallagher, we like to produce benefits that extend beyond building our business. We must also address the difficult challenges that many people in our further afield communities face. As such, Gallagher is a supporter of ChildFund which aims to improve the circumstances of the world’s most deprived, excluded and vulnerable children and their communities.
Gallagher is a sponsor of the Avantidrome, based in Cambridge, New Zealand. The Avantidrome provides our local communities with the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding an indoor track and gives them the ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Gallagher Family Hospice
This hospice provides essential care and support for people with a life limiting illness and their families and friends - completely free of charge. It also has a pediatric service, Rainbow Place, which supports children, young people and their families through serious illness.
Westpac Waikato Rescue Helicopter
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter provides a dedicated free life saving rescue service which is available 24/7. When you see them and when you hear them it is often a matter of life and death. This rapid response service is powered by an expert crew of pilots, paramedics, flight nurses, Police and crewmen. The service is able to be airborne within 10 minutes and in a life and death situation it is this speed and agility that can make all the difference.
When time is critical or accessibility is compromised the rescue helicopter serves the Waikato – King Country communities. Providing timely assistance can reduce disability and improve survival – the sooner resuscitation and treatment begins the greater chance of patient recovery.
Gallagher Great Race
Gallagher is the major sponsor of The Gallagher Great Race Festival. The festival began in 2002 and is an annual rowing regatta on a 4.2km upstream course on the Waikato River through central Hamilton. The penultimate race of the festival is the "Gallagher Great Race" between the University of Waikato Senior Men's 8 crew and an international University crew (previously Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and Washington Universities) who are invited to New Zealand to compete.
Gallagher is a major sponsor of the 2012 Super 15 rugby champions, Chiefs. Based in Hamilton, the rugby franchise encompasses players from the greater Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Counties-Manukau.
In 2016 we grow our relationship with the Chiefs, which will be formally known as the Gallagher Chiefs.
Gallagher is a major supporter of education facilities in the community including the Gallagher Wintec Hub and the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts at The University of Waikato. Gallagher also endeavours to provide support for as wide a variety of community initiatives as is possible and has proudly sponsored other organisations, events and facilities such as Women’s Refuge, Waikato Breast Cancer, Drop your Boss, Rowing High Performance Centre, Gallagher Aquatic Centre, numerous individuals with disabilities, and the New Zealand Police. In addition, we support our own staff with various initiatives.
