Darrell Jones

Darrell Jones’ believes in the Gallagher brand and its never-ending commitment to solving farming pain points. After a 14 year career with the company it’s this singular focus and drive that has led him to be recently appointed National Sales Manager for the New Zealand Animal Management team.

Darrell began his career back in 2001 as a Territory Manager for the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato region. In 2013 after consistently growing his territory by developing outstanding relationships with resellers and farming customers, Darrell was promoted to Regional Sales Manager and Key Account Manager before taking this latest step to the National Sales Manager role.

Darrell sees enduring partnerships being a core driver in the Animal Management division’s success.

“We have spent a number of years building long term business relationships with our retail suppliers as well as at the farm gate between our Territory Managers and farmers. These partnerships have been crucial in the business’s long term growth."

He is however mindful that long term relationships with customers is not something to be taken for granted.

“Trust is a long time earned but can be lost overnight so we strive to ensure we act with integrity and respect every day”.

Despite the affect the current Global Dairy Trade price is having on the rural economy, Darrell sees some positive signs.

“It’s definitely not all doom and gloom. We have just come off the back of three regional field days which clearly demonstrated other farming sectors are performing well. We also showcased our Flashmate heat detection device to the dairy market highlighting the financial benefits to farmers in tough times.”

Living in town was never an option for Darrell and his partner Charlie who chose to bring their two children up in rural NZ. In 2013 they sold their 50 acre property in Rotorua to move to the Waikato to enable Darrell to further his career development with the Gallagher Group, but they still live rurally on the outskirts of Hamilton.

The move was an easy decision to make as Darrell see’s the commitment that Gallagher makes to the rural sector in NZ and is excited by the opportunities and innovation that Gallagher will continue to deliver to NZ farmers.
