Agricultural innovation took center stage once again this year, attracting over 36,000 visitors to Eastern Canada’s largest outdoor farm show. Now in its 31st year, Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show 2024 was held in Woodstock, Ontario last week. This annual event is a major highlight for the agricultural community, featuring over 600 exhibitors spread across more than 100 acres of outdoor trade show space.

The event offers a unique opportunity for attendees to witness agricultural technology and innovation in action. From live equipment demonstrations showcasing the latest advancements to hands-on experiences for farmers, the event brings cutting-edge technology to life. Livestock enthusiasts benefit from a comprehensive display of industry trends and expert insights, events and trade opportunities. Our team were on site showcasing our wide range of Gallagher solutions and having some great conversations with local producers and industry representatives. A key focus of the Gallagher stand was showcasing one of our latest innovations: The Gallagher Auto Weigher.

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture proudly presented this year’s Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show 2024 Innovations Program, a platform for showcasing the latest ideas and products driving the future of farming. This year’s program was divided into five key categories: Agronomics, Business Solutions, Environmental Sustainability, Equipment, and Livestock. Exhibitors from across the agricultural sector were invited to apply, with the opportunity to showcase their innovative solutions and compete for the coveted Farmers Choice Award.

A panel of experts carefully reviewed submissions and selected finalists for each category. Among the standout innovations this year was our Gallagher Auto Weigher, nominated as a finalist in the Livestock category.

The Gallagher Auto Weigher offers a significant advancement in livestock management by simplifying the process of tracking animal weight. With the ability to take frequent weight measurements with minimal manual effort and reduced stress on the animals, the system enhances both efficiency and welfare. The data collected by the auto weigher is converted into full body weight, securely uploaded to the cloud, and can be accessed via any mobile or desktop device; a breakthrough for ranchers with remote pastures and cattle. This real-time data allows farmers to quickly identify underperforming animals, leading to more informed management decisions and helping to save both time and money.

While we did not secure the top prize this year, being named a finalist was a great achievement. The winner of the Livestock category was BioferScience Inc., with their ProFlora Cattle Energy Balance Capsule, a solution for improving dairy cattle health. Congratulations also go to the winners in the other categories: Thunderstruck Ag Equipment, CATTLEytics, LEMKEN, and Duke Distribution.

Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show continues to be a vital event for showcasing agricultural innovations, bringing rural communities and producers together and helping to shape the future of farming. Our team had a great time exhibiting and catching up with customers; thanks to all that stopped by!
