Gallagher Releases Innovative Wireless Water Monitoring System

The Wireless Water Monitoring System uses a high-quality sensor to measure water pressure in the tank. Data is sent via a solar-powered, wireless communication unit mounted on top of the tank to a touchscreen display unit, sited where it can be easily seen (such as at the farmer’s house, dairy or shed), which can be up to four kilometres away.

Malcolm Linn, Gallagher Australia’s general manager, says the clever water-management technology is a good fit with Gallagher’s existing range of electric fencing and weighing and electronic identification (EID) products.
“We’re in the animal-management business, so we know that stock, pasture and water management are all interdependent factors for successful farming.”
He says Gallagher saw great potential in SmartWater’s product and the benefits it offers farmers to efficiently manage water.
 Uses beyond water
“The system can monitor the level of any fluid, so while water monitoring will be its main use, there are plenty of other applications for this product, including monitoring farm effluent or measuring the level of a dairy supplement such as molasses.”
Mr Linn says the partnership is “synergistic”.
“We recognised SmartWater’s expertise in designing and developing this product, and they recognised our skills in sales and marketing to the rural sector.
“To ensure our customers have full confidence in the product, the Wireless Water Monitoring System will be branded with the Gallagher name. By doing this, farmers know that they can expect the same level of reliability, performance and technical support they would get with any other Gallagher product.”
Optional equipment includes a Wireless Pump Controller, enabling remote pump control to maintain desired water levels, and a directional long-range antenna, to increase the signal’s range up to 10km.
