Gallagher Territory Manager Chris Richards

Chris Richards is Gallagher’s new Territory Manager for Central Queensland. While the region is new to him, the products are not: Mr Richards has spent the past seven years as a TM in Canterbury, New Zealand.
“I was looking for that next step. I came across last year and worked with Gallagher at Beef Week in Rockhampton and really enjoyed getting in and talking to the end users and the team here. At the end of the day, this role was just too good an opportunity to turn down.”
His immediate plans for the territory are to bring his motivation and enthusiasm to “get his face about” as much as he possibly can.
“The main goal at this initial stage is on forming relationships here, which excites me about this role. Part of that will be letting people know I have seven years’ experience with Gallagher products, so they can have the confidence of getting me out on-farm and in-store, knowing I can do what they need.”
Mr Richards, who began his new role in early October, was brought up on a sheep-and-beef farm in Tapawera near Nelson, a major NZ horticultural region.
After leaving school — where his favourite subject was rugby — he went from labouring on-farm to working for a rural co-operative owned by 50,000 farmers.
“I managed the second-biggest store in NZ for a few years, and then went out on the road as a managing technical field officer. All up, I was at the co-op for eight years.”
Mr Richards loves working with Gallagher for several reasons.
“It’s still a family-owned business, they treat staff very well, and have an exceptional product that’s recognised worldwide. Gallagher is always developing, always being innovative, always thinking outside the square.”

Chris has worked for Gallagher on both sides of The Ditch, spending seven years as a TM in Canterbury on New Zealand's South Island before his Queensland role.

"It was too good an opportunity to turn down — despite a lack of pivot irrigation and teaching the use of Flashmate Electronic Heat Detectors on dairy cattle!"

Growing up on a sheep-and-beef farm in Tapawera, a major South Island horticultural region, Chris's favourite subject at school was rugby. After finishing, he went from labouring on-farm to working for a rural co-operative owned by 50,000 farmers, firstly managing its second-biggest NZ store for a few years, then heading out on the road as a managing technical field officer.

"I love working with Gallagher because it's still a family-owned business, they treat staff very well, and have an exceptional product that's recognised worldwide. Knowing that I work for a company that excels is really great and we're so diverse now."
