Sian grew up on a property in Wyalkatchem in WA's cropping belt, and now runs a wheat-sheep enterprise at Bencubbin with her partner, Steve Kett.
She sees her experience across sales, merchandising and stock agency as the perfect lead-up to her Gallagher position.
"This role gives me a chance to make my mark in the ag industry on a professional level. It also gives me the ability to grow as a salesperson and as a territory manager — and to be able to see some of the best country in the world as I do it … although I could be biased!"
The hockey enthusiast says it was Gallagher's reputation "being beyond any other" that drew her to the role.
"And it's the sign of a good company when people have been there for 30-plus years.
"I have a real enthusiasm for agriculture and lots of experience dealing with farmers and agents through my previous roles. I love meeting new people and learning their life stories, and I really appreciate Australian farmers' happy-go-lucky attitude."
Sian says while the initial technical training was "full on", it "just gave me more enthusiasm and I knew that I'd picked the right job".
