Rodney, who was born in Cairns, spent his childhood visiting his grandparents' Tablelands dairy farm.
Then in the late 1980s, he spent a few years overseas in Macau and Hong Kong, training trotting horses.
When he returned, he worked with Primac, then Coopers Animal Health, before joining Gallagher in 2000.
"All my life, I believe you should work for the best company. I thought that of Primac and Coopers, and I think Gallagher is the best electric fence company."
An electrician by trade, he used Gallagher products to fence in the family's horses and cattle long before joining the company.
"Now we've just got 40 acres on the North Johnstone River, outside of Malanda, running a few Brahman cows and calves and some show horses. Whether it's trotting horses or show horses, once you have horses you can't get out of it!"
