Growing up, David was always involved on the land. Keen on campdrafting, team penning, "and all the things that go with it — camping and fishing", David was also madly passionate about horses.
"I'm still a horse enthusiast, but we sold the last one when the kids left home."
After schooling on the Gold Coast, the registered Kelpie breeder gained a Diploma of Agriculture from Longreach Pastoral College, then managed several sheep and cattle properties, including very large operations in Central New South Wales and Queensland.
"I came back to Warwick after that, which is where I'd spent all my life before, and worked for an independent store. Then Gallagher came to me, and the rest is history."
