Customer service in agriculture combines two passions for Christiaan, who grew up on a Victorian beef property that used “plenty of Gallagher electric fencing”.
After graduating with an Advanced Diploma of Agriculture and a Diploma of Agronomy from Longerenong Agricultural College, Christiaan worked on two larger-scale dairy operations — which also used Gallagher products.
But customer service also interested him, so Christiaan gained experience in retail supervision before joining an airline cabin crew.
“That was good fun. The safety aspects are fairly full on — as you’d expect them to be — and some of the passengers could be very demanding.”
However after a year of flying the skies, Christiaan felt the call of agriculture again.
“The passion was really strongly drawing me back, but I was really wanting to combine my loves of agriculture and customer service. When this CSR role came along for Gallagher, it was perfect.
“I’ve gone out and seen what else is out there and come back. To be able to work for a company that’s got this reputation is a really good thing.”
